Shaver Receives Dairy Nutrition Research Award

Randy Shaver, Ph.D., an expert on dairy cattle nutrition, was awarded the American Dairy Science Association Nutrition Research Award Tuesday for his professional achievements. The annual award is jointly sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association and ADSA.

AFIA Honors Ruminant and Non-ruminant Experts with Annual Awards

Ermias Kebreab, Ph.D., an expert in ruminant nutrition, and Gerald Shurson, Ph.D., an expert in swine nutrition, were honored at an awards ceremony Monday evening for their professional achievements by the American Feed Industry Association and the American Society of Animal Science.

WVU's Moritz Receives AFIA Poultry Nutrition Research Award

The American Feed Industry Association in partnership with the Poultry Science Association recognized Joseph Moritz, Ph.D., a faculty member at West Virginia University's Department of Animal and Nutritional Science, Wednesday for his contributions to poultry nutrition. The Poultry Nutrition Research Award was presented to Moritz by Phillip Smith, of Tyson Foods, during the annual PSA meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas.

AFIA says FDA Spot on with FSMA Proposed Exemption for Animal Food

The American Feed Industry Association submitted comments today to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration applauding the agency's proposal to exempt animal food from the Food Safety Modernization Act's intentional adulteration rule. The "Focused Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration" would require registered domestic and foreign food facilities to address hazards that may be intentionally introduced by acts of terrorism.

AFIA's Tumbarello Appointed to Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman Thursday appointed Gina Tumbarello, American Feed Industry Association director of international policy and trade, to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseed and Planting. Tumbarello was one of 19 new appointees to six agricultural trade advisory committees.
