As part of my responsibilities at the American Feed Industry Association, I had the pleasure of spending most of last week at the AFIA Liquid Feed Symposium (LFS) in Louisville. This event is planned, moderated and hosted by AFIA’s Liquid Feed Committee, which is a perennial favorite of mine, and with good reason I suppose.
I always heard the members who attend Liquid Feed Symposium (LFS) are a great group of people – heck, I even remember Leanna Nail telling me about them during my orientation five years ago – and the collegiality and fun at this year’s conference was palpable.
Last week, I had the honor of presenting PerforMix Nutrition Systems’ Rupert, Idaho, feed manufacturing facility with the American Feed Industry Association’s 2021 Liquid Feed Facility of the Year (FFY) award. In coordination with Feedstuffs’ Sarah Muirhead, we presented the award to the facility’s plant manager, Ty Cahoon, before industry colleagues at the AFIA Liquid Feed Symposium.
There can be a lot of reasons to throw a party – recognizing a milestone, launching a new venture, making time to have fun with old friends, creating an informal opportunity to build business relationships, honoring an achievement, or – after months of pandemic restrictions – just celebrating the opportunity to get together!
