It is my pleasure to introduce the American Feed Industry Association's inaugural, "Our Industry, Our Promise" report, which provides an overview of the challenges the U.S. animal food industry is currently facing and the ways the association is delivering on its policy priorities on behalf of its 650+ members.
Last year, the AFIA communications team examined how we were communicating with members in light of the coronavirus pandemic and made the recommendation to sunset the biannual print publication, AFIA Journal, in favor of an annual state of the industry-style report. This new, 24-page resource provides valuable facts and stats on each of our policy priorities, from maintaining our industry’s license to operate in the new business climate, to promoting feed and food safety as well as worker health and safety, to meeting customers’ demands in trade, to proving animal nutrition’s role in meeting the country’s climate priorities, and more.
In addition, our communications team is pleased to unveil 10 new species infographics, with general information on what domestic livestock and pets eat, where they are raised, and the nutrients that the resulting meat, poultry, dairy and eggs provide in humans’ diets. The data is largely based off of the recently released, “Animal Feed/Food Consumption and COVID-19 Impact Analysis,” report from the Institute for Feed Education and Research.
I encourage our members to use and share these materials as they see fit. For questions or help using them, please drop me a line in the comments below!
