Recognizing Excellence in Feed Production with the Feed Facility of the Year Program

During the month of March, the American Feed Industry Association recognized the final two 2023 Feed Facility of the Year Award winners. Below, we take a look back at our 2023 winners. 

Mountaire Farms’ Scotland County feed mill in Maxton, N.C., clinched the 2023 Integrator Feed Facility of the Year award, presented during the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association’s Feed Mill Management Seminar.  

“The fact that this facility has been recognized as the Integrator Feed Facility of the Year two years in a row speaks volumes about their dedication to running an excellent facility,” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs. “Their focus on producing safe quality poultry feed and employee safety is second to none.” 

At the AFIA’s Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference in March, ADM’s animal nutrition feed facility in Bluffton, Ind., earned the 2023 Premix/Ingredient Feed Facility of the Year award.  

“It is very obvious that the management staff at the ADM Bluffton facility is laser-focused on leading a well-oiled team in producing safe and high-quality animal feed,” said Huddleston. “It is evident that they have a very qualified group of employees and leaders at the plant.”  

Congratulations to both teams on their outstanding achievements in feed production! Other winners this past year included MFA Incorporated’s Aurora Mill facility of Aurora, Mo and Westway Feed Products’ Houston, Texas, feed manufacturing facility. 

As we wrap up the awards for AFIA’s 2023 Feed Facility of the Year program, we look forward to the changes coming to the 2024 program. This year, the AFIA will return to awarding one overall Feed Facility of the Year Award to the highest performing facility. Also new this year, all proceeds from the program will go to the AFIA Equipment Manufacturers Committee Scholarship fund.
