Welcome Jessica Morse!

The American Feed Industry Association is excited to welcome back Jessica Morse. She was with the association several years ago and is back as our director of meetings and events. Jessica is passionate about serving our members and is really looking forward to being back in the animal food industry. Learn more about Jessica below.

Q: Tell me about your background.

Morse: I grew up in Texas, but I’ve lived in the D.C.-area for 15 years. When I finished my undergraduate degree, I taught middle school reading and language arts with Teach for America. I went back to school with the intention of teaching at the college level someday, but somewhere in that journey, I pivoted to event planning, and I never regretted that decision. I love that my job gives me the opportunity to bring people together to connect and learn more about their industries.

Q: What interests you the most about working in the animal food industry?

Morse: I didn’t know anything about the animal food industry prior to working with the AFIA, but I learned that the animal food industry is critical to global food security and economics. I am always fascinated by how little the average person knows about the industry when it is connected to so many aspects of our daily lives.

Q: What was your favorite memory of working with the AFIA the first time?

Morse: The AFIA has amazing members! I loved getting to meet our members at events like the Purchasing & Ingredient Suppliers Conference and the Equipment Manufacturers Conference.

Q: What is your vision for AFIA's meetings and events? 

Morse: I’m lucky enough to have a background in AFIA meetings and events, and I already think they are wonderful. My goal is to increase – as much as possible – the value attendees find in attending AFIA's meetings and events. My vision for AFIA events is to create forums for members to gather and foster meaningful connections. I’d like for AFIA events to continue to provide a range of informative experiences that empower individuals and organizations within the animal food industry, promoting collaboration, growth and excellence.

Q: What do you do for fun?

Morse: I love to be outside – running, beaching, hiking and attending baseball games are some of my favorite things to do (go Nationals!). I also have two dogs who are always ready for an adventure.
